Created with vintage fabric on hand to back each altar cloth, so some backing fabric may vary from what is pictured.
This altar cloth design is inspired by Samhain (Oct 31-Nov 1st), one of the four major Pagan fire festivals in the Wheel of the Year.Samhain takes place on October 31st-November 1st of each year, marking the end of the Harvest season and the beginning of the Pagan New Year. Samhain originated the modern holiday of Halloween, as it is considered the point in the year when the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest, allowing for contact on either side. It is a particularly sacred time for witches (and people of different faiths all over the world) for remembering and honoring the dead and gone. Samhain is also a palpable time for releasing the previous year and setting intentions for the new cycle.
Featuring an original illustration by Irene Mudd, this altar cloth consists of printed cotton fabric, backed with a hemp blend printed fabric*, and machine stitched with an eye catching metallic silver thread. Each altar cloth is finished with hand-painted pearlescent details and fabric loops on the back to allow for wall hanging.
