The word "jasper" comes from the Greek word iaspi meaning "spotted stone," and it is related to the Hebrew yashpeh and the ancient Assyrian word ashpu. Jasper was worn in antiquity by Priests in Egyptian and Hebrew cultures. Egyptians also believed the stone to be associated with Isis and was carved into amulets for the dead.
Unlike most Jasper, Red Jasper, is almost always one pure color. Jasper has been used all over the world and has often been revered as sacred. It has been used as a protection stone for thousands of years and can also help to balance aggressive energies.
Red Jasper is considered to be a powerful healing stone and is associated with the Root chakra, which governs foundations and grounding.
