How to Use The Deck
Pull a card to find your message and embark on a powerful journey.
Each card represents a different grief ritual, plant ally, or illuminated action to help you embrace and/or transform your grief and an evocative image for contemplation. The Deck's accompanying booklet provides a narrative and questions for each card as you continue on your inner journey.
The deck is composed of Ceremony, Plant Ally, and Illumination cards. Ceremony cards contain a sigil or illustration from a ritual within The Devil's Death. When chosen, you can engage in the recommended reflection from the accompanying booklet or the entire ritual from The Devil's Death. Plant Ally cards contain an illustration of a plant that aids in grief from The Devil's Death. When pulled, you can consult the booklet to understand how you can incorporate into your grief/alchemical work. Illumination Cards display my Sacred Rest sigil and contain a reflection or action you can take to work with your grief. You can pull cards individually, within a spread, or incorporate all three categories into your reading to create your own custom rituals.
The deck is designed to be used in conjunction with The Devil's Death as it provides the full rituals the Ceremonial cards refer to, and The Alchemist’s Workbook which provides reflections and exercises for the deck. However, Anguish as Alchemy can also be used without the book, as the companion booklet that comes with the deck provides insights and prompts of its own for each card.
