The strawberry plant is a creeping perennial vine native to Europe and is a member of the rose family. Historically, strawberry leaf has been used medicinally by many Native American tribes as an antiseptic, disinfectant and for relief of gastrointestinal problems. The Romans used it to lift spirits and relieve bad breath. Strawberry shows up in European mythos as a fertility and love herb, as it was said that the fruit of strawberry would produce love when shared with another. In parts of Bavaria, many people still practice the annual rite each spring of tying small baskets of wild strawberries to the horns of their cattle as an offering to elves. They believe that the elves, who are passionately fond of strawberries, will help to produce healthy calves and an abundance of milk. Strawberry leaf can help to attract success and good fortune which makes them a great addition to abundance and prosperity workings. Dried leaves can be steeped as tea, blended into herbal infusions, added to sachet bags or spell jars, burned as incense or added to a bath.
