Opalite is a man-made simulated crystal that was designed to mimic the appearance of natural Opal. Natural Opal is forged organically in nature out of volcanic ash whereas Opalite is typically made in a laboratory, composed of a mixture of glass and metal, and only sometimes additionally with resins. Gem grade Opal is incredibly rare, oftentimes very expensive and relatively fragile, which is where Opalite comes in. Opalite was created in 1974 by chemist Pierre Gilson as a cheaper and more readily accessible crystal than natural Opal.

Opalite is ideal for helping to clear the mind and aid in meditation and can also help to enhance self-insight, intuition, and psychic abilities. It is an all around wonderful healing stone and can give strength to help verbalize hidden feelings. Opalite is primarily associated with the Crown and Third Eye chakras, which govern wisdom and intuition respectively.
