Sodalite is aptly named for its sodium content. It is also known as "poor man's Lapis" due to its similarities to Lapis Lazuli. Lapis will contain Pyrite whereas Sodalite will not.
Though blue is its most common color, it can also be found in grey, green, yellow, red, and lavender. The purple variety of this stone is known as Hackmanite and while Sodalite can fluoresce orange under UV light, Hackmanite becomes a deeper and richer color when exposed.
Sodalite can help to promote rational thought, objectivity, and perception. It is also considered a guardian stone for heroes and heroines, especially when speaking truth to power.
This stone is associated with both the Throat chakra, aiding in communication, and the Third Eye chakra, which can deepen intuition.
