Meet the Instructor:
"Ritual magick has had a presence in my life for as long as I can remember. The incorporation of blood in my work felt really natural and devotional in a way that I could not express with any offering. I needed to move through fear and pain to show, what I felt was, the ultimate giving of oneself.
Around 2008, I dove into the avant-garde performance art world of Butoh and fell in love with visceral ritual performance art. Around the same time, I discovered the flesh hook suspension community. A blood rite practice derived from the Native Mandan tribe as well as correlations to the Thaipusam or Vegetarian festival in Malaysia. With all that I learned from the performance, suspension and art communities, I saw an opportunity for women to gather, lift each other and express their most primal and feral shadow selves- through flesh, blood, strength and steel. Thus my ritual performance and bloodletting troupe Coven of Ashes was born.
I am also the founder and facilitator for the experimental project Dark Ambient Sound Bath. A Jungian approach to healing the shadow self through meditation, visualization, breath work and dark, electronic music." - Lauren Davis
With over 15 years of practice, Lauren has often been asked for perspective, facilitation and instruction in the workings of others and has been happy to lend her knowledge to those truly interested and in need. Thus, Sui Generis Magicka was born. All of SGM’s mediums take on a theme of exploring the depths of your shadows, unearthing the subconscious, altered states and low, instinctual, chaos magick.
